BVRio organizes workshop about legal and sustainable timber in China

To help traders, distributors and manufacturers of products using tropical timber with the procurement and use of legal and sustainable timber, the CINFT jointly hosts with BVRio Responsible Timber Exchange and CDP a workshop on legal and sustainable Tropical Timber procurement, at 3M6 Meeting Room in Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Center of International Sourcing. Leonel Melo and Bruno Maier presented our work to the Chinese.

How to procure legal and sustainable timber for meeting market demand when the global community has enhanced its efforts to combat illegal logging and release legislation on timber legality is the concern of a wide number of Chinese enterprises. The Center for International Forest Product Trade (CINFT) under the State Forestry Administration, a think tank for forestry industry development, has developed the China Due Diligence System, established a database for responsible forest products and sought to collaborate with databases owned by other organizations or countries.
